Dirt bike rider suffers serious injuries in crash with vehicle

A dirt bike rider ended up in the hospital following a collision involving two vehicles just outside Cambridge on Monday afternoon during the holiday.

It happened at about 4:10 p. m. when Waterloo Regional Police Service got the call about the accident on Dundas Street North, close to Branchton Road in Cambridge.

Police told 570 News Radio that the dirt bike driver, a 20-year-old local from Cambridge, was seriously injured.

They had to be flown by helicopter to a hospital outside the region for treatment.

The other driver involved, a 21-year-old man from Hannon, suffered injuries but they are not life-threatening.

Dundas Street was shut down between Branchton and Vanier Drive while officers investigated at the scene.

So far, there’s no word on whether charges will be laid or exactly what caused the crash.

570 News Radio has asked police for any updates or more details.
