With heavy hearts, we share that R. B. (Barry) Mc Bain passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre at age 92. He was born on September 30, 1933 in Toronto, ON and grew up in Port Colbourne, ON. Barry worked various jobs early on – like being a milkman and working at Mc Gees Shipyard – before landing a position with Niagara Finance in St. Catherines. A promotion there took him to Fort William, ON in the early 60’s where he met his life partner Sally Jane Prouse. They married in 1962 and he decided to take a government job for more stability while raising a family. That led him to work for Revenue Canada for three decades. After retiring, he enjoyed spending more time with family and traveling alongside Sally once she retired in 1995-they traveled often after that. Barry also cared deeply about his community and volunteered extensively across local groups and boards, earning several awards along the way. He leaves behind his sons Stuart (Lisa), Eric (Deanna), grandsons Sean (Jessica), Ryan and great-grandson Jack; niece Ann (Pat); nephew John (Cheryl); Louise Stoot; Pat; Lorne Mark; plus friends and relatives all over the country. His funeral will be held Saturday, June 6 at 11am at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church, 675 Red River Road, followed by lunch and burial. Instead of flowers, donations to any charity you choose would be appreciated.
