Judy Elizabeth Melrose passed away on May 2, 2026, in Kingston, Ontario at the age of 79 after bravely facing Alzheimer’s. She was born on September 10, 1946, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and carried a bit of that Island charm with her all her life.
She had a way of lighting up any room with laughter and was known for being funny and outgoing. Judy made friends easily and kept many of those friendships over the years. Even while dealing with Alzheimer’s, she often showed her sharp sense of humor along with a mischievous smile.
Judy shared a close and loving relationship with her husband, David Melrose. He visited her every day, knowing that someday he’d have to say goodbye. She is survived by her sister Reta Murdock (Earl Murdock) and brother Roger Buchanan (Brenda Buchanan). Judy was also predeceased by her parents and sister Olive Andrews (Wayne Andrews). She was a devoted mom to Brenda Mc Allister and Kimberley Daly (Kevin Daly), as well as a proud grandma to Victoria Mc Allister, Colton Daly (Leah Hutchinson), Camille Daesey (Matt Daesey), and Calissa Daly (Adam Vincent).
The family will be welcoming visitors on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 1:00 – 1:50 pm at James Reid Funeral Home located at 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston.
