Obituary of Antonio "Nino" De Zorzi

Antonio peacefully passed on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. He was married to Giovanna De Zorzi (née Sovran) for 62 years. A proud dad to Dante (Janet), Alissa (Ken), and Jamie (Manon). Grandfather to Jack and Grace Howe, along with Anthony, Dominic, and Isabelle De Zorzi. He was predeceased by his parents Dante and Regina De Zorzi from San Martino al Tagliamento, Italy. Antonio was a dear brother to Alessandro (who passed away) and Maria De Zorzi, as well as Luigi (deceased) and Ancilla De Zorzi. He also leaves behind brothers-in-law Mary Rose and John Ward, Gabriella Hobbis; he was predeceased by George and Bertha Sovran. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will fondly remember him.
Antonio worked hard all his life and was very dedicated to his family. A true friend who always found time to lend a hand whenever possible. Known as the go-to contractor for his kids’ homes, he took great satisfaction in managing projects and fixing things around the house. His commitment to family and friends never wavered. Having spent his whole career in construction, Antonio could turn any car ride into a history lesson about the city – proudly pointing out buildings he helped build while sharing stories about them.
Anyone lucky enough to enter his home experienced genuine warmth and generosity. Depending on the season you visited, stepping into his backyard felt like walking through a farmers’ market thanks to his fruit trees and large garden that he cared for lovingly over many hours. Visitors often left with baskets full of fresh-picked fruits or veggies from his own garden. Antonio also treasured the time spent with his hunting buddies-those yearly trips brought him happiness, friendship, and adventure alike. His self-taught skills in taxidermy showed how determined he was to learn new things.
He proudly belonged to the Fogolar Furlan Club of Windsor where he joined others in supporting their community spirit. Antonio passed down a strong pride in their Italian roots to all of his children and grandchildren.
