Passed away quietly at her beautiful heritage home in St. Williams, Ontario on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by a few family members and close friends. She is survived by her husband and closest companion Jon Mc Cracken, sisters-in-law Nancy and Judy, her beloved Siberian Husky (Cheyenne), several dear cousins, and many wonderful friends old and new.
Art was a big part of Pam’s life from early on. She studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Western University, and Dalhousie, focusing on silk screen printing. Later on, she trained in metalsmithing with master artist Lois Etherington Betteridge. During her career, she worked successfully as a commercial artist in Toronto’s advertising and book publishing sectors. One of her standout achievements was designing the iconic logo for Husky Energy. She eventually moved to cottage country to serve as Executive Director/Curator at Haliburton’s regional art gallery before settling in St. Williams as a freelance artist specializing in gold and silver smithing and jewelry making. Her stunning work was displayed in various galleries; she also regularly participated in Toronto’s “One-of-a-Kind Show” and the Norfolk Studio Tour.
Pam took on everything with skill-art, dance, gardening, upholstery work, horseback riding, gourmet cooking, competitive shooting, even birdwatching. Interestingly though, she never quite got the hang of catching a ball. Music and reading were favorites of hers too-especially murder mysteries. She had a huge heart for all creatures but felt a special bond with dogs, bunnies, horses, and ravens.
Pam traveled all over the world. Along the way she picked up several languages pretty fluently. Wherever she went she soaked up the local nature and culture deeply-and tried hard to encourage others to appreciate it too while making things just a bit more beautiful herself. God liked that about her-and gave her an amazing sense of humor plus that contagious laugh.
Even while facing health challenges throughout life’s ups and downs Pam kept going strong with endless energy-always independent, hopeful, determined-and always sharp-dressed.
She has been cremated; no formal memorial service will be held. Serenity Burial & Cremation Services Inc., 361 Main Street Port Dover (226)290-9093 are handling arrangements.
