George was a man who really made an impact on everyone around him. He passed away suddenly on April 23, 2026. Born on October 21, 1941, in Windsor, Ontario, he grew up there, went to school locally, learned a skilled trade, and raised his family nearby. Over the years, he built lots of relationships that shaped who he was.
He leaves behind his wife Marlene (Belland), along with his two wonderful daughters: Lu-Anne Nechitaluk (Fred), her partner John Whitehead, and Lisa Crichton (Brad). George was known as the best Papa anyone could ask for to his grandsons Mitchell Crichton (Dana) and Garret Crichton (Jenna), and he was also Great-Grand (GG) Papa to Blair, Brooks, and soon Callie.
George will also be thought of every day by his siblings Don (Sheila), Beverly (Glenn), the late Jean Vaillancourt, Mario (Linda), Andrea, Michael (Beverley), James (Lynda), Wayne (Donna), Angela (Mike) and Paul (Aileen). There are many nieces and nephews who will miss him too.
He spent his career working as a sheet metal tradesman-a job he took pride in because it required skill and care. George was part of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 235. He worked on loads of projects across Ontario that were built to last well beyond what you’d expect. When not working hard, he loved sports, traveling around a bit, and hanging out with family and friends.
A big thanks goes out to the ICU team at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus for all their support and care during this time.
If you want to pay your respects in person: visitation is at Windsor Chapel – Banwell Location (11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, Windsor, ON) on Monday April 27th from 7 pm to 9 pm. It continues Tuesday April 28th from 2 pm to 5 pm then again from 7 pm to 9 pm. The funeral service happens Wednesday April 29th at 11 am.
