We’re deeply saddened to share that Giovina Ivanetic (nee D’Angelo) passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at the age of 95. She was surrounded by family at Bethammi Nursing Home when she died.
Giovina came into this world on May 15, 1930, in Bisenti, Teramo, Italy. She was born to Achille and Ettera and was one of seven siblings. She was the last surviving member of her amazing family.
She has now joined her husband Philip (who passed in 2019); her sister Allegrina (2008); brother-in-law Francesco Di Giuseppe (2010); brothers Antonio, Guerino, Ercole, Donato, and Rocco; plus sisters-in-law Grazia, Gilda, and Antonietta.
Giovina leaves behind her son Tony along with three grandchildren: Melissa, Andrea, and Nathan. Also still with us are her sisters-in-law Italia and Argentina.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cared deeply for her whole extended family. Everyone who knew her will feel the loss strongly.
To celebrate Giovina’s life, a Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 11:00 a. m. at ST. ANTHONY’S RC CHURCH (123 Hilldale Road), officiated by Father Luigi Filippini. Afterward there’ll be entombment at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum located in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitors can pay respects on Monday evening April 20 from 5:00 p. m to 7:00 p. m. at the Waverley Chapel of EVEREST FUNERAL HOME (299 Waverley Street at Algoma).
