Stolen vehicle recovered in Cambridge, one suspect on the loose

Waterloo Regional Police are searching for a suspect after they found a stolen vehicle in Cambridge.

On August 29, just after 10 a. m., officers were called to Hespeler Road following reports about a suspicious car.

After looking into it, police learned the vehicle had been stolen from the GTA. They arrested the passenger, but the driver got away.

The police checked around but couldn’t locate the driver. Now they’re asking for help from anyone who might recognize him.

The suspect is described as a brown male in his twenties wearing a blue baseball cap, black t-shirt, beige pants, sunglasses, a khaki vest, and white shoes.

While hunting for the driver, officers think there might have been some break-ins nearby too, though none have been reported yet.

The person caught gave authorities a fake name. WRPS say he was wanted by Ottawa police and was out on release conditions at that time.

He’s facing several charges including possession over $5,000 worth of goods, breaching his release order and obstructing police officers.

The investigation is still ongoing.
