Regional police are alerting the community about a dangerous offender who was let out after being arrested last October.
According to a press release, Kevin Koehler, 60, was found guilty of manslaughter back in 2013; but he also has a “long criminal history,” including charges like criminal negligence causing death, assault with a weapon, simple assault, and assaulting police officers.
Koehler got out of custody once he completed his manslaughter sentence in October. On that same day, he was put under judicial supervision.
A few days later, though, he was arrested again for breaking the terms of his release.
Police said on Feb. 13 that he has been released yet again.
He must follow these rules:
Notify authorities right away if you move or change your address
Do not try to contact any of your former victims or their family members or witnesses involved in the cases you were convicted for
You have to stick to a curfew and stay inside your home from 11:00 p. m. to 5:00 a. m.
Avoid buying or using alcohol or drugs unless prescribed by an Ontario doctor
The police are sharing his photo and name because they believe he’s “a significant risk to public safety.” They also say he’s “likely to reoffend or break his conditions.”
If anyone spots Koehler not following these rules, police want them to call 911 right away.
