February 16, 1958 – March 5, 2026
With her family close by, Lori quietly passed away at the Sault Area Hospital.
She leaves behind many friends who loved her dearly, a family that held her close, and her loyal companion, Maggie. Born to Bud and Isabel Nelson and raised in Wawa, Ontario, Lori went to Confederation College in Thunder Bay and spent most of her life living in Sault Ste Marie. Her sister Joni Nelson (Tony De Agazio), along with family and friends will miss her greatly. She was a proud aunt to Ellen De Agazio (Karter Morrison), Benjamin De Agazio, Josh De Agazio and Nicole De Agazio (TJ Boucher). She was also a niece loved by Lynn Mac Aulay (Gord Pearce) and Doug Mac Aulay (Christine Ljungkull), as well as Cindy Paluzzi (Aldo), plus cousins Shelley Nelson (John Pozzo) and Shelleen Nelson (Peter Cumming).
Before retiring, Lori worked for many years at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLG). She was known for being kind and thoughtful with a unique way of expressing herself. Outgoing by nature, she made friends easily-from school days all the way through adventures with the ‘Lottery Gang’. A caring neighbor too-often dropping off baked goods or clearing several driveways without being asked. She gave freely of her time, attention, and heart.
Lori’s love for her family ran deep; she really shined as an ‘Auntie’. The best moments were when we could all gather together in Thunder Bay, Sudbury or back home in the Soo. Those visits were always full of laughs, warmth-and usually some shopping mixed in.
We’ll remember Lori for her humor, big heart, fierce devotion to those she cared about-and just how she brightened our lives simply by being here.
A big thank you to the nurses at SAH-ICU and 3C for their kindness and care. Also thanks to everyone at Chartwell Collegiate Heights where Lori found a great community during her stay.
Cremation has been done per Lori’s wishes; there’ll be a Celebration of Life later on. She’ll rest alongside her parents at Woodland Cemetery in Wawa. Donations can be made to the Sault Ste Marie Humane Society by cheque or online if you wish. Funeral plans are handled by Arthur Funeral Home-Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East) 705-759-2522. You can share memories or condolences at www. arthurfuneralhome. com.
