'Crime tourist' arrested following Cambridge break-in

A man from Cambridge is now facing multiple charges after reportedly crashing into a police car that was parked during a traffic stop on Highway 24.

According to the Waterloo Regional Police Service, the incident took place just before 7:30 p. m. on Saturday along Brantford Highway in North Dumfries.

The police said one of their vehicles was pulled over at the side of the road for a traffic stop when a Ford pickup truck hit it.

The driver of the pickup allegedly tried to take off but ended up crashing not far from the scene.

Officials confirmed that neither the driver nor any officers were injured.

The police arrested a 63-year-old man from Cambridge in connection with this.

He’s been charged with:

Impaired operation – alcohol and drug Failure or refusal to comply with demand Fail to remain Flight from police Dangerous operation Careless driving Fail to slow down and proceed with caution for emergency vehicle

Officers remind drivers that they must slow down and, if it’s safe, move over to another lane when approaching stopped emergency vehicles or tow trucks with flashing lights.
