Leonard Felbel of Southbridge Pinewood passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026.
He was born in Silver Bay, Manitoba on July 4, 1929 to Hermann and Adeline Felbel.
Leonard met Thelma Barrett at a dance in South Gillies, and they shared 51 years of marriage together. They had four sons: Garry (Susan), Robert (Lynda), Richard (Sherry), and Glen (Branwen). He was proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
After working for Great Lakes Paper for 32 years, Leonard retired in 1988. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, watching Nascar races, traveling, and tinkering in his garage. But spending time with family was always his favorite thing. He is survived by his brother Ed (Shirley) and sisters Ella Koch, Lillian Leslie, Wilma Reist (Dave), Helen Conlon (Tom), as well as sisters-in-law Judie Felbel and Loraine Felbel.
He was predeceased by his wife Thelma and brothers Gerhardt, Ernie, and Walter.
The service was led by The Reverend Nancy Ringham. The family wants to express their thanks for her support during this time.
A big thank you also goes out to the staff at Pinewood for the wonderful care they gave Dad.
The funeral will take place at Sargent & Sons located at 21 North Court Street in Thunder Bay on January 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Thanks also to Breanna Kettles at Blakes for all her assistance.
