PARKER, Valerie 'Lynne' - Obituary - Orillia

Dec. 22, 1945 – Jan.16, 2026

It’s with a heavy heart that Lynne Parker’s family shares the sudden loss of our Mom and Nana on January 16th, 2026 in Orillia, Ontario.

Lynne was one of the kindest people you’d ever meet; always ready to give her time and skills to help others. Even just recently, at 80 years old, she kept volunteering every week at “The Sharing Place Food Centre.”

She served in the Canadian Forces and was also a military wife; because of this she moved around quite a bit. Born in Calgary and growing up mostly in Delta and Ocean Falls, BC, Lynne lived at several bases including CFB Toronto, CFB Cold Lake, overseas at CFB Baden (Germany), plus many years near Kingston NS at CFB Greenwood before settling in Orillia for the last few years.

Lynne leaves behind her children: Robert (Silvia) Parker from Bradford, ON; Krystal (Justin) Lowe from Orillia, ON; and her favorite people by far-her grandkids: Nicholas Parker in Barrie, ON; Mikaela Parker in Bradford, ON; Claire Lowe, Parker Lowe and Elijah “Eli” Lowe all living in Orillia.
Also surviving her are her sister Sue Rapin from BC; brother Bill (Mary) Dempsey also from BC; plus her loyal four-legged friend Lizzie the Shetland Sheepdog.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Doreen Dempsey; brother Brian (Ilean) Dempsey; along with her husband Dale Parker who passed away in 2018 after nearly five decades together.

We’ll miss having her around so much. Her endless love for family, sharp mind ready for debate any day of the week, and pride seeing us all do well will stick with those closest to her.

The family plans a private celebration of life later on instead of a public service.

If you’d like to honor Lynne’s memory please consider donating to The Sharing Place Food Centre here in Orillia or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation-or any charity close to your heart.
